Back from a week-long trip to Vermont to visit the parents. Did some bike riding, including the trip from the cabin to White River Junction on Saturday to catch the Amtrak train back to DC. Cycling in Vermont is usually a pleasant experience, as many of the major state highways have good shoulders. I rode mostly on Route 5 and there was a 3-5 foot shoulder for most of the trip, except from Norwich to White River Junction.

The trip was a good time to get caught up on some reading (especially on the 11 hour train ride), breathe some fresh air, and help out the parents as they moved south for the winter. Was able to complete one so-so watercolor of the cabin and barn.

The return train trip was interesting, especially when the jerk sitting nearby kept telling people to shut off their cell phones right now! It worked the first two times, but when he repeated his demand to the rather large African American dude, it wasn't long before he was apologizing. It was either that or have his little pinhead ripped off. He was rather quite for the rest of his trip to New York City.
