Back from a great trip to Washington and Oregon to ride the Volcanoes of Washington bike tour sponsored by Bicycle Adventures. I'll try to write up a trip report over the next few weeks. Spent some time in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR and enjoyed the ease with which one can ride a bike in the city. In Seattle we could watch the steady stream of bicycle commuters arrive in the morning and leave in the evening. Our motel, the Seattle Days Inn on 7th Ave, a block or so from downtown and the Belltown district, was located on one of the mapped bike routes. Every time I looked out the window I would see not one but several cyclists pass. A little rain did not seem to affect the number of cyclists, and they seemed to be equally divided between men and women.
