The local papers are finally discussing pedestrian safety, with this editorial on pedestrian safety, and what little Fairfax County is doing. At the public hearing, one of the supervisors said that according to the police, we don't have a pedestrian safety problem, and when we do, it's the fault of the pedestrians and they're drunk. The Police are overworked, but need to get a better attitude about the problem. A little enforcement of the pedestrian rights laws would help. In the same edition of the paper is this article on pedestrian safety.
