It's really kind of ironic. On the really bad air quality days, when fewer people should be driving, it seems that more people drive to avoid exering themselves and breathing polluted air. It's days like these that I pine for the cool, clear days in Vermont. One of the east coast AIDS rides starts tomorrow. The Post has a good article on the organizer, Dan Pallotta, and his for profit organization. They the rides raise lots of money, but most people who contribute don't realize that often less than half the funds actually go to the designated organizations. Seems like the rides could be held for much less money, since groups like Bike Virginia manage to do nearly the same thing for much less money.
